Call for Special Panels Sixth Global International Studies Conference
The ‘International’ Around the World: Multiple Voices, Alternative Orders
Buenos Aires, Argentina
15-17 July, 2020.
The World International Studies Committee invites the submission of proposals for five to seven special panels to be conducted during our meeting in Buenos Aires. We are looking for proposals that are willing to reflect on the profession and its current challenges, to encourage the formation of networks for future institutional collaborations, to discuss the possibilities for new pedagogical approaches, to share academic experiences as well as to encourage young scholars to build strategies for their professional careers. The following experiences organized by the International Studies Association in the last couple of years may serve as template format for the proposals:
• Intergenerational Café
• Pay it Forward for Female Scholars and Students
• Innovative Panels (Town Hall Meeting, Mock Trial, Debate, Simulation, Film Screening, Expert/Practitioner Q&A, Performance Art, Audience Participation, for example)
• Emerging Global South Scholar Workshops
• Junior Scholar Symposia
• WISC will particular welcome proposals from Global South scholars.
Proposals must include a description specifying aims and the activities to be conducted in an abstract of up to 250 words. Each submission should also include the convener’s full name, email address, academic affiliation, rank, and possible participants, including their names, email addresses, affiliation, and rank. Please indicate the desired language of the panel, but note that it should run entirely in English or in Spanish/Portuguese, which may be combined. Regardless of the language of your proposal, make sure to use English in the submission form.
The Call is open only for registered participants that have paid their registration fees.
